## Common problems

**Jitsi needs a hostname.** Video conferencing requires a real domain and TLS;
`localhost` will not work for participants joining from elsewhere. Set the
hostname in `.env` and put it behind a reverse proxy.

**Syncthing cannot see peers.** Ports 22000 and 21027 must be reachable. If
they are not, use a relay or run it over a VPN.

**BookStack login fails.** The default admin is created on first boot and the
credentials appear in the container logs. Change them immediately.

**Zulip first boot is slow.** It runs migrations for several minutes on first
start. That is expected, not a hang.

**Grist data loss.** Everything lives in the `grist_data` volume. Back it up
before upgrading - Grist migrations are not always reversible.

## Backups

Stop the service before backing up.
